Abstract
This school, like many others in Ecuador, is severely under-funded, meaning that daily we erased old workbooks so that others could use the same book. The children were usually behind in both math and language, and struggled with various behavioral (ADD), and emotional problems. We worked daily on personal hygiene (brushing teeth before class), proper behavior, and education fundamentals. My role extended beyond being an instructor. I was a friend giving hugs, providing emotional support, and acting as a stable resource.
