Working in the AIDS Ward of Amurt Health Clinic
Abstract
Working in a small health clinic in Kenya was not easy; however it was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Every day when I entered the clinic, there would be people sitting all along the walls of the third floor - the AIDS ward, where I worked. These people did not fit any particular mold; they were old and young, poor and rich. AIDS does not discriminate. My job was to use Kiswahili and English to assess patients' overall physical and mental condition before they saw the doctor.
