My research on the Nürnberg Christmas market was focused on understanding the true meaning of the holiday season for the German people. I spent many hours talking with and observing the vendors and visitors, and traveled to other markets to compare them with one another. I discovered that Christmas in Germany is a time of joyous celebration and visiting with family and friends. Despite the chaotic-looking crowds at the markets, people are relaxed and shop for unique gifts in an unhurried and friendly atmosphere. This experience helped me to relax a little and enjoy Christmas more for what it is.
