Abstract
Polymers and coatings are an integral part of today's society, and the economical and environmental benefits of cycloaliphatic epoxide coatings make them ideal research subjects in the search for new coatings. The goal of this study was to synthesize a functional monomer that could be used on its own as part of new copolymers, or as an intermediate to the synthesis of larger and multifunctional monomers. The originally desired product was not purified, and no significant evidence as to whether it was synthesized exists, however, certain novel polymers were created and tested.
