Abstract
Two new optical anion sensors, L1 and L2, were designed, each combining amide-modified ferrocene groups with either an anthraquinone-based chromophore or an anthracene-based fluorophore, respectively. Both are suspected to bind biological anions such as benzoate, carboxylate, and phosphate. A convergent synthesis was employed, and L1 was formed. Binding studies ofLl and the synthesis ofL2 are ongoing.
