Abstract
Although previously thought to be highly unreactive, the vanadyl moiety, V02+, has been shown to exhibit numerous transformations. Our investigations focused on the V=02+ unit in four different imine-phenolate ligand environments. The synthetic accomplishments included the replacement of the 0 atom of V=02+ with an S atom, two CI atoms, or two Br atoms. The V=02+ moiety has also been oxidized to V=()3+. All products were characterized by infrared and electronic absorption spectroscopy. The V=()3+ species were also characterized by IH NMR.
