Regulations Enrichment is required by the United States Department of Agriculture via the 1966 Animal Welfare Act and the 1985 amendment to that act specifically addressing Non-human Primates (NHPs). Enrichment Defined as “….any measure which promotes the expression of natural, species specific behaviors and a decrease in, if not disappearance of abnormal behaviors” (Dean, 1999) Must stimulate each of the five senses in a nondistressing manner May affect study results Video Enrichment As a fairly new form of enrichment, little investigation has been done as to whether or not video enrichment is beneficial to psychological well-being Studies to date have shown conflicting results
