Nonverbal Learning Disorder: The Unknown Disability
Abstract
Learning disabilities are neurological disorders that
affect 15% of the population of the United States.
They can be broken into two major subtypes: verbal
learning disabilities and nonverbal learning
disabilities. Verbal learning disabilities include
dyslexia’s, auditory processing difficulties, and
other disorders that affect the processing of
verbal language. Nonverbal learning disabilities,
however, involve deficiencies in the processing of
nonverbal information and impairments in socialemotional
functioning.
