Abstract
Going to college does not mean preparing for a career or job, it means preparing for life, and your purpose in life. It has taken me a long time and I know that I am far from the end, but I think that I have a much better grasp on who I am, how I got here, who I want to become and how I want to get there. Kalamazoo College’s mission eloquently states that its purpose is “to prepare its graduates to better understand, live successfully within, and provide enlightened leadership to a richly diverse and increasingly complex world.” This college has done just that, not by the classes I have taken, but by the experiences it has offered and allowed me to have. Because of this, I feel that I have learned a great deal about gratitude, trust, confidence, judgment, and respect, as well as what I love and what I fear. These recurring themes in my life that I have endured through my experiences at Kalamazoo College have helped me to begin my journey through life and to find my place in this vast world.
