Outcomes of Inadequate Health Education in Latin America: My Journey in Costa Rica’s Medical Field

Abstract

My senior project was completed in Quepos, Costa Rica and occurred over a six-week period during the summer of 2022. The goals upon arrival were to fully submerse myself in the culture as well as the rapid environment in which I would be working as an assistant nurse in an elderly clinic. I took this opportunity as a solo individual to gain a true idea of where global medicine currently stands. I also used this experience to solidify my thoughts on becoming a professional in the global medical field.
