Ethel Cronkite, class of 1920, was a missionary in Bengal-Orissa, India from 1921-1939. Cronkite sent these publications, Tidings, to the college as part of its centennial collection in 1927. This particular issue includes a cover page illustration of the Church of Christ, now called Beldih Baptist Church, in Jamshedpur, India. The Tidings was a collection of writings made by various missionaries in the region, and stories of the local community. Cronkite took notes on the section detailing the first ever Religious Conference held in Jamshedpur, a major industrial city.
