Includes program and flyer for the Festival Playhouse production of Largo Desolato, by Vaclav Havel. Directed by Kazimierz Braun and performed in the Dungeon Theatre from July 20-28 of 1990.
Kazimierz Braun—"one of Poland's leading directors," according to a college press release announcing the production—directed the play. Additionally, its writer, Vaclav Havel, was the then-president of Czechoslovakia. Havel was a major anti-communist voice in Czechoslovakia before serving as the first and only president of a non-communist Czechoslovakia, and then as the first president of the Czech Republic. He rose to prominence as a playwright, and Largo Desolato was written in 1984, five years before he assumed the presidency.
