Learning through Failures at Steelcase

Abstract

This paper outlines the journey through my first project as an intern at Steelcase. This project was proposed by myself to solve an inefficiency I observed within my team and to serve as a learning opportunity. Throughout this journey, I relied on online forums for technical support and my team members for non-technical support. The entire experience of working on this project improved my understanding of project management, being in the workforce, and software development. The experience also allowed me to learn new technologies such as Tensorflow Object Detection, pySimpleGui and JSONs. Overall, I have gained more insight on the career field that I have been intent on getting into. I am now more eager to get into the working field full time given all the experiential learning that takes place and especially with all the training I have had from my time at K.
