My Experience Interning for a Tech Start-Up

Abstract

Throughout this summer, I was given the opportunity to work with a start-up company called VMET(Virtual Music Ensemble Technologies), working on their new software suite called Opus. Due to the small size and start-up nature of VMET, I was able to assume a lot more direct responsibility and ownership of the project than I may have at a larger corporation. My official goal for this summer was to implement as much functionality to the desktop application as possible, ideally getting the desktop application into a prototype state for investors. From a more academic perspective, my goals were to learn how to code using React Native, learn how to use several AWS(Amazon Web Services) cloud-based services, and get a feel for what it's like to work on a project with a larger scope.
