Post-Production Objects : A Sculpture and Found Object SIP
Abstract
This document contains a written narrative, artist statement, and image addendum of Zoë Zawacki’s Studio Art SIP. Her project explores the relationship between found object, sculpture, and built structure. Zawacki creates pieces that explore an object’s function and materiality by creating sculptures using traditional building materials, and occasionally coupling built sculpting with found objects from building projects in the Kalamazoo area. Zawacki implements the use of mold making, material manipulation, sewing, and object placement within her artistic and curation process. Through her SIP, Zawacki hopes to deconstruct assumptions surrounding what is considered Sculpture and encourage the public to view architectural forms and construction salvage as Art.
