From Property Management to Full Scale Renovations

Abstract

My senior integrated project was a two-part SIP that took place over the Spring and summer Quarters 2021. The first part that took place in the Spring was all about the residential real estate market and Property management sector of real Estate. The study uses information from multiple different companies about what management is and how to create a successful business in this sector. There are different sections ranging from Property management lease structures to finding tenants to property maintenance. The second part of my SIP took place over the summer, I first worked with my family to acquire a property here in Kalamazoo in early March and then worked with a local architect and builder to completely remodeled the house from the ground up starting in June 2021. Every floor and wall was either repainted or completely torn down and replaced. The entire second floor was rebuilt from the inside out. The house is completely updated with all new electrical and plumbing. We completely redid both bathrooms and added onto the kitchen to make it more functional. We also built a back patio. I was able to capture the entire renovation and I created a ten-minute video of my adventures in this 2,000 square foot renovation that I did with minimal help from contractors.
