Support Group for Women and Non-men on Mackinac Island
Abstract
In this experiential SIP, I created a support group for women and non-men in my rural hometown. To start a support group, I had to secure a meeting space, advertise, provide refreshments, keep a journal, and, most importantly, complete thorough research on support groups. Throughout the summer, I learned about organizational, relational, and leadership skills. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to do this SIP as this process was a fulfilling one because I was able to connect with the women and non-men of my community in a meaningful way.
