Abstract
Even though love is a universal idea, the world sees it through a prominent view, the western view. The western view romanticizes love. Other cultures around the world rely on marriage or love for stability, safety, networks, and financial or land access. Western love relies on emotions and how much love someone has for another is based on their feelings in the moment. It is pushed into the media more than any other narrative around the world. Western culture has always been shoved into the spotlight throughout history, so it is no surprise that the Western view of love is shared broadly around the world and has become the most prominent when it comes to discussing the standards or rules around love. We know that every human is different. Even if you live in the same house, and say you are twin, love exists differently between the two of you. But I don’t want to highlight one view over another. I just want to talk about love and how it exists in diverse medlies around the world.
