Impact of Arthropod Presence on Monarch Butterfly Oviposition

Abstract

Monarch butterflies (D. plexippus) are not the only arthropods that rely on milkweed plants. Presence of other arthropods (ants, earwigs, etc.) may have an effect on oviposition. Milkweed plants were arranged and checked periodically for both monarch eggs and arthropods.
