Abstract
My research examines the arc of medical illustration through
history, specifically how it is embedded in the fabric of our
social world. With a specific focus on medical philosophy
through art, I explore the changing social ideologies of
different time periods. Drawing from illustrations, exhibitions,
and the work of contemporary artists, I argue that through
modern medicine’s interactions with fine art, the blending of
theses two worlds helps us to understand the human psyche.
