How Carbon Dioxide and Nitrogen Impact Achillea millefolium and Agropyron repens

In order to examine the effect of elevated CO2 and soil N, I completed an experiment in which photosynthesis levels were determined for different CO2 and N treatments for Achillea millefolium L. and Agropyron repens (L.) Beauv. For this experiment I predicted that higher CO2 levels would result in higher initial or instantaneous photosynthetic rates. I also predicted that addition of N in soil treatments for Achillea millefolium and Agropyron repens would result in higher photosynthetic rates. For the combined effects of CO2 levels and soil N levels, I predicted the following result: elevated CO2 levels would cause lower photosynthetic rates with N addition than N addition alone. In addition to these three aspects that were examined I predicted that CO2 and N would have different effects on species due to the specific nutrient requirements of each species.
