dc.description.abstract	This report will focus on the contract structure of the four major professional sports leagues---football, basketball, baseball, and hockey--- by gathering data from each team to determine why some professional leagues have fully guaranteed contracts and some leagues do not; by analyzing the different roles that player unions have in assuring players their guarantees and gaining other protections; and by examining how strikes have impacted Collective Bargaining Agreement’s (CBA) in each league. The overall revenue each sport generates also will be evaluated and compared to see if there is an effect on the structure of individual contracts. The average career length of each athlete playing various positions in the four sports also will be examined.	en_US
