The purpose of this paper is to examine how private entities can profit off public goods. Focusing on common goods, externalities, government policies, and environmental impacts, the paper examines the economic effects when private entities interact with public goods. This paper primarily focuses on groundwater and aquifer usage/rights, eventually leading to an analysis of Nestlé Waters North America and the events transpiring in Michigan related to those issues.
