Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the changing consumption habits of film viewers. After reviewing the literature, it was clear that a shift was expected from consumers and the corporations that dominate the entertainment industry. To discover if these assumptions were supported, a survey was administered to film consumers in Michigan to test this posited change. The survey observed the general trend and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the theater and stream industry. Results show that consumption habits are changing. More viewers have begun streaming at higher rates and the COVID-19 pandemic has created higher streaming use than before. It is unclear how this change will impact theaters, but it is obvious that streaming platforms are becoming more popular due to availability, accessibility, and affordability.
