dc.description.abstract | The student newspaper issued a special edition titled "A Plea for Tolerance" in response to anti-gay graffiti found in Dewing Hall. The issue includes photos and letters written by students, faculty, and staff denouncing the anonymous graffiti. Not only did the graffiti attack the gay community but also women and a few named students. After the incident, more than 500 students signed a petition condemning the graffiti and President Breneman called a special meeting in the chapel condeming the incident. | en_US |
