dc.description.abstract | The Sherwood Society's annual banquet in 1923 followed an Arabic theme. According to an article in the June 20, 1923 issue of The Index, "Odors of incense carried out the illusion which was given by the Sheik and Sheba place-cards, and the menus which, too, were printed in Arabic...At each plate was a beautiful pocket edition, leather-bound, of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. It was from this book that the toastmaster took quotations to introduce the speakers." The menu included olives and pineapple salad. Handwritten notes are on the program including one that states "Best Banquet ever!" | en_US |
