Abstract
The aim of this project was to build a parallel computing device from Raspberry Pis using the Beowulf cluster architecture. This paper describes the build and the benefits of parallel computing over using a single computer for solving complex problems. The cluster was to be used as a teaching aid by future students. In addition to inexpensively building a cluster powerful enough to demonstrate the benefits of parallel computing, this project also provides an instruction guide specific enough to be easily followed by non-technical people. The guide contains step-by-step instructions on what exact pieces to purchase, how to assemble, configure, and program the components to create a fully operational cluster. The instruction guide can be used by teachers to create their own clusters to allow their students to have hands-on experience with parallel computing.
