Over the summer, I worked at GM Financial (GMF) in Detroit, MI in the International Operations department as an Information Technology (IT) Intern on the Consumer Risk Transformation (CRT) team for three months. Our focus was the CRT project, which helped to automate some of the process involved with credit decisioning. The tasks I performed in my role as an IT Intern for the International Operations part of the company helped me to understand the CRT system and team better. Throughout this time, I learned how an international company functions and the challenges involved with being international. An important part of my role as an intern was creating training materials to help users understand what the system does and to demonstrate how to use certain features of CRT. I also focused on creating test cases and inputting test information in order to debug CRT in its final stages. Throughout the internship, I was on a team of Business Analysts and was being trained in the role of a Technical Business Analyst. The motivation behind the CRT project is tied closely with the company’s goals, which come from their long and complicated history. Since my work at GMF, I have been able to compare and contrast my experience as a student and working with technology in an academic setting and an industry setting.en_US
