Abstract
A tornado ripped through Kalamazoo on May 13, 1980. Five people were killed in the city and scores were injured. The tornado caused damaged to Stowe Stadium on the college's campus. In this photo, a group of Kalamazoo College students loads branches onto a truck during cleanup efforts. Inspired by this act of community service, the Day of Gracious Living has often incorporated a similar kind of cleanup or beautification project.
