Abstract
Introducing her original prose/poetry creation, the author writes “ I titled this project she answers, because going is where I was based on two recurring themes in it. Firstly, it is the relations among the past, future and present, how I navigate my stories through these different timelines. Secondly, it is the dedication to the women in my life and in me, and the reconstruction of my femininity. I initially envisioned this project as a long poem, before it manifested into a prose/poetry project. My project’s structure is based on the format of song thất lục bát poetry – a Vietnamese poetic form which has four lines in one stanza, and the number of words in each line respectively is seven, seven, six, eight (also called the 7768 form for this reason). I did not want to research too deep into the 7768 form, but instead took out the form itself and observed it from my individual perspective as a poet to analyze its features, how I can borrow it to create a form for my roughly 30-page manuscript.” In her introduction, she goes on to reflect on influences from literature, music, and art.
