Abstract
This article presents information on five students from Japan during the first decade of the twentieth century. Three of these students were children of American missionaries: Ora Scott, Stella Fisher, and Royal Fisher. The other two students were Japanese: Nagai Sokichi and Katsuji Kato. Sokichi spent one year at the college and later became a well-known novelist, publishing under the name Nagai Kafu. Kato graduated with the Class of 1909 and would go on to work for the YMCA. The article was originally published in the Fall 1985 issue of the Kalamazoo College Quarterly (http://hdl.handle.net/10920/36642).
