Maynard O. Williams graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1910. After graduation he taught at the Syrian Protestant College in Beirut and also at Wayland Academy in Hangchow, China. Several years later he became a travel journalist for the National Geographic Society. In 1925 he accompanied Donald Macmillan and Admiral Byrd on an Arctic expedition. This was followed by the Trans-Asia Expedition sponsored by Citroen-Haardt. This collection includes diaries, field notes, correspondence, and articles written by Williams.
