Effects of an Integrated Intervention for Substance Abuse and Intimate Partner Violence: A Proposed Study
Abstract
Women who experience intimate partner violence (IPV)
are likely to experience co occurring mental health
consequences and substance abuse (Tolman & Rosen,
2001). Examining how domestic violence and substance abuse
agencies can better coordinate and/or integrate services to
meet the needs of women with these co occurring
experiences. Integrated brief interventions have been shown to be
effective (Ogle & Baer, 2003), but there are philosophical
barriers to coordination between domestic violence and
substance abuse agencies resulting in a lack of cross
assessment and treatment (Bennett & Lawson, 1994).
