Abstract
I’ve had the opportunity to study away in New York City in the New York Arts Program Winter 2018. During my study in New York, I interned for college credit at New York Live Arts as the Marketing & Front of House Intern. On my freetime, I would go to drop in classes at Broadway Dance Center. For my Final Individual Project, I collaborated with Sage HaleWolfe and Cianna Rothwell, film and photography students in the New York Arts Program. We created a video concept, discussed video/ photoshoot dates, and executed our plans within 2 weeks. To extend my project, I decided to do more research and apply to dance related opportunities using my dance videos and headshot. I stumbled upon Broadway Dance Center’s Summer Session program. I created my SIP proposal with the idea of a experiential SIP using Broadway Dance Center’s Summer Session program. During Spring of 2018, I finalized and submitted my application to BDC. Shortly after submitting, I got an acceptance letter and the program began two weeks after I was accepted. As you continue to read, you will get to take a look at my BDC Summer Session experience. I will take you to my journey through short stories of seminars, dance classes, master classes, mock auditions and more. This is the first time I’ve had dance training in 10 years and I’ve gotten the experience that I’ve been craving for.
