Abstract
Muscle growth is the product of time dedicated to resistance training. Another equally important aspect of muscle proliferation is nutrition. For the purposes of this paper, I chose to look at the literature in regards to macronutrient intake in promoting optimum muscle growth. In addition to the literature review, I conducted a self-experiment in which I followed the guidelines of macronutrient intake found in this literature review and applied it to myself for two months. During these two months, I recorded my caloric intake, weight, body fat, and measurement of my arms and legs. In doing so, I hope that this paper could shed some light on the science behind muscle growth and serve as a guideline for athletes or physically active people attempting to gain muscle or maintain a healthy lifestyle through nutrition.
