Effects of Macronutrient and Fluid Intake On Athletic Performance : A Literature Review and Case Study

This review attempts to provide readers a better understanding of the effects on an athlete's performance through body composition assessment and recommended macronutrient and fluid intake. Measuring an athlete's body composition and weight allows the individual die ability to set food and beverage consumption objectives that ultimately strengths the human body through human processes associated with each macronutrient. Furthermore, this review provides suggestions for athletes on the overall intake of the essential substances before, during, and after competitions and exercises. Through personal experience, the future implications of this review suggest athletic departments take a stronger approach to combating the macronutrient and hydration deficiencies athletes may encounter year round. The plan to combat these issues would be weekly food and hydration logs that clearly describe a precise dietary plan fit to better an athlete's performance on and off the field.
