Yo No Hablo Ingles : The Importance of Medical Interpretation In Helping Break the Cultural and Language Barrier
Abstract
The intentions of this research is to see how the presence of interpreters, or lack there of, has affected patients, doctors, nurses, and families when it comes to health care and sendees. It will explore the issues, long and short terms, which are brought up with the lack of medical interpreters and the difference in interpreters. It will also include cultural aspects, specifically Latino, and how having interpreters will help breakdown the cultural barrier that exists between patients and doctors. In addition, it will propose a way in which we can slowly begin to add more interpreters and how to train them not only in the language but culturally significant barriers.
