Artist’s Statement: “My SIP, "Gut," has been in the making, physically, since the beginning of winter, but I have been working out the thought processes surrounding it for some years now. I see this exhibition as a stop along the way of this thought process, because as much as I have discovered and understood through the creative process, there are many questions that are left unanswered and even more that were newly introduced. Gut is, in a general sense, an investigation into the states of being of women as influenced by the modern era. Through the painting of women in slightly surreal situations, I hoped to bring to light some essence of what it means to exist as a woman, at least as far as I have understood and experienced it these past 23 years.”
