Introducing her collection of paintings, the author writes "I believe there is solidarity in fear and darkness within everyone. We huddle in the darkness due to fear, and we stick together for the fear of being vulnerable. We are quite literally scared of ourselves. Attempting to replace self and home is applicable to life outside the realm of deliberate artistic expression because we are constantly changing our environments to better suit the way we grow and live. Growing is inevitable, and the necessity to let ourselves connect and be seen means acknowledging the lightness and darkness within. There is a continuous necessity to understand personal darknesses before showing empathy toward others."
