dc.description.abstractThe current study sets out to find the most efficient way to grow and collect algae which produces carbohydrates and triglycerides that can be converted to bioalcohols. These can replace fossil fuels as a cleaner alternative. It could also be complimentary to other green energy production efforts. Two varieties of algal growth systems were implicated for use at the Muskegon County Wastewater Management System facility. Both systems utilized wastewater from one of the storage treatment lagoons at the facility. One system was an on-land flow way system, while the other was an open-water apparatus system. From the algae produced by these systems, total energy production can be predicted through analysis of lipid production by the algae.en_US
