George W. Harris, an employee of the Michigan Christian Herald, writes to the paper’s Executive Committee about his intention to remain in his present position if “an efficient responsible man” is granted the position of publisher. If the Committee can’t find someone to do this, Harris nominates himself, either for a new five-year term or on the same term of his present employment. If appointed publisher, he would organize a “mechanized improvement” of the paper, increase its circulation, and have subscribers pay in advance for issues.en_US
