Thomas S. Chase writes to T.Z.R. Jones from Boston advocating on behalf of his sister Emma, a student at Kalamazoo College. Samuel H. ransom, a College trustee and auditor, along with George W. Fish, a Kalamazoo merchant, seem to have collectively provided a scholarship for Emma’s studies for at least one quarter. In addition, a “mutual misunderstanding” that developed between Emma and Mrs. Stone is also addressed, making it seem like the misunderstanding has been solved. Chase also suggests the possibility of sending Mollie Jones, T.Z.R. Jones’s daughter, to Boston, which would somehow “save the school from injury in any way.”
