The idea for this project came from my undying love of Ultimate, and my unfortunate relationship with injuries. Over the past few years on the women's Ultimate team at K, I have been known as "Doctor Toohey" because of my backpack containing first aid kits, Icy Hot, and at least three ankle braces at any given time. I had been injured so many times that I planned on injuries occurring, so I was prepared for whatever happened while playing. In the early months of 2017, I had to go to physical therapy for a knee injury that persistently worsened the more I played Ultimate. After going to appointments, two to three times a week for a few months, I learned about my muscles and my tendency to ignore problems until it was impossible for me to ignore them. I learned how to take care of myself and how to prevent the injury from getting worse. At that point, I knew I should be training other parts of my body to avoid injuries. I began thinking more about what I should do before practices and games to not only warm up my body before playing, but also to strengthen and prepare my muscles for the exercise I would be doing. While the rest of the team conditioned together, I did separate stretches for my knee, and I thought about how I should get my team to do the exercises with me. Thus, the idea for this project was born. My goal is to help Kalamazoo College Ultimate Frisbee (KCUF) members to have a reference for when injuries occur and also aid in the creation of more useful and preventative warm-ups. I want KCUF members to have stronger and healthier bodies to avoid unnecessary injuries, and to embrace being proactive in training and preventing injury. I hope the information provided in this project can help accomplish that.en_US
