Abstract
During the summer of 2016, the developer worked on creating a mobile application for the Swim for Success program. Swim for Success is a Civic Engagement Scholar program that is run at Kalamazoo College. During the program, under privileged children from the greater Kalamazoo area are given the opportunity to learn how to swim, a skill that most children that come to the program wouldn’t have access to otherwise. The mobile application’s goals include having the ability to take attendance of the children, keep track of their progress throughout the program, and also give the coaches the ability to give feedback on the children’s progress. The hope of this application is to make everything about Swim for Success much more accessible to administrators, coaches, and parents of the program. This project fits into the broader CS world by creating a systematic leveling-up application that could be adapted and modified for any leveling-up program. This project will look into mobile application development and will help compare the aspect of software development to software testing, which the developer had experience with the previous summer at an internship.
