Abstract
Au NPs were used as a straightforward sensing mechanism for the detection of OTP pesticides due to their colorimetric capabilities. Au NPs of sizes 4 nm and 13 nm were synthesized to distinguish between ethion, malathion, and fenthion. UV/vis was used to measure the SPR shifts as ethion, malathion, and fenthion were added in increments to Au NPs solutions. TEM imagery was used to show the aggregation of the Au NPs before and after the addition of ethion, malathion, and fenthion. Results showed that 4 nm Au nanoparticles exhibited very high sensitivity toward the addition of all three OTP pesticides. 13 nm Au nanoparticles exhibited high sensitivity toward the addition of the OTP pesticides, however, they also exhibited high specificity
