dc.description.abstractPrior to this experiment research was done to look into the epoxidation of chalcone and ethyl trans--‐cinnamate. Typically they were epoxidized using methods that are not environmentally friendly, safe, or cost effective. This reports looks at using hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant for these epoxidations to make the chemistry of these reactions more green. Eleven reactions were run varying the starting material, solvent, base, and reaction time to try to epoxidize these compounds. More information was gained to help better reaction conditions in the future, though none of these reactions were successful in the epoxidation of these alkenes.en_US
