To pinpoint how athletes become successful – reaching their goals – an athlete needs the willingness, perseverance, and commitment to go through a process that allows one to achieve their team and individual goals (De Swardt, 2008). There is a self-fulfilling prophecy that the more one struggles, the more it will affect performances. A change of attitude and the ability to control one’s thoughts are essentials to becoming mentally tougher. If athletes become more self-confident, they will be better at competing.
