Abstract
This project uses seminal risk, insurance, and financial theories to answer questions facing future insurance underwriters. Using qualitative research this project predicts risk factors that arise when companies introduce autonomous technologies in personal consumer vehicles. Once risk factors are highlighted, this project breaks down the insurance protections that are available for traditional vehicles on the roads today. With this information, hypothetical insurance claims scenarios are presented that express how these potential risks could develop in real world applications and who would be liable for losses incurred. After completing qualitative analysis of risks factors, insurance protections, and real world applications this project proceeds to explain methods for financing these risks.
