Synthesized Nature

Abstract

Titled Synthesized Nature, this piece is a large installation made up of many smaller parts, created primarily from relief prints and paper cuts. The interaction of altered print, paper and cast shadows, pulled together by synonymous mark, combine to create a walk-through environment. The purpose of this installation is to transport the viewer into a different space, pulling the audience away from reality and into a surreal place, which references the everyday natural world. While each piece can stand alone, the impact happens when they are put together, as together the pieces tell a story about evolution, complexity, and cycles of life, death and time.
