The following document is a narrative and academic reflection on the SIP (Senior Individualized Project) process and final project of Katherine Hunter, a series of works completed for Kalamazoo College that begun in December 2014 and culminated in April of 2015. It documents the original conceptual beginnings, as well as changes and alterations on the concept throughout the artists’ process. The artist tracks her growth and adaptation through aesthetic and relational philosophy, primarily utilizing the language of those fields to explicate the final results. The paper draws reference from Martin Seel, as well as Claire Bishop (her personal writings and works of collected essays), and Nicolas Bourriaud. Though not specifically cited, there is also a strong academic background in Zuidervaart, Kant, and Schiller.
